Becca showed up to practice last week with a new and much improved
approach. We have been working on fundamentals and breaking old bad
habits. I let them know that just the reps at practice might not be enough
to make a change and they should work on stuff they want to improve on
their own time. Becca didn't play as much as she would have liked at our
last tourney, mainly due to us only have one setter and our lack of ball
control, nothing she had any control over. Instead of complaining she went
home and worked on everything we had talked about her improving. The next
week at practice I stopped in awe after her seeing her new, and much more
aggressive, hitting approach. Other girls on the team noticed too as she
was able to hit much harder and get to sets much faster. Part of being a
true athlete and the key to getting to the next level is being able to
make adjustments and changes to keep up with the change in the speed of
the game as you get older. I have been working with Becca for 2 years, but
the biggest change I have seen comes after she spends some of her own time working on what she needed to improve.
Keep up the good work!
