Congratulations to the 14’s White team for moving up 11 places at last weekend’s Power League Tournament in Albany. The team started out in the 94th position. They started out a little slow in the morning in their first match against DSK 14 Black of Albany. They were a tough team and they beat us in two games. In our second match against the McMinnville 14 Black team, our girls played hard but just couldn’t quite catch them. They lost in two games but made McMinnville work hard to win the second game.
By the third match our girls were warmed up and easily beat the Salem 14 Silver team in two games. This put us in the 3rd spot of the pool at the end of pool play. Since this was a crossover tournament and we had started out in the 4th position, we took on the 3rd positions ranking of 83 (which is the ranking we would end the day with.)
In the afternoon crossover play, the girls easily beat their first opponent, Power Force 14 Pink, a team from the Wilsonville area in two games. And in the last match of the day they beat the LOCOS 14 Silver team of Estacada in two games. Estacada gave the girls a run for their money in the second game and almost beat them forcing the match to a 3rd game but the girls pulled together and won 26-24.
The team has good talent and when they are working together, it’s amazing what they can accomplish. We look forward to watching more good volleyball from the 14’s White team as the season progresses. Good Job Girls!!
